With its 50 experienced researchers and their teams, the Armand-Frappier campus of the Institut national de la recherche scientifique plays a vital role in research, training and technology transfers conducted in Quebec in the areas of human, animal and environmental health.

The INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier is the only research centre in North America to join the Réseau international des Instituts Pasteur, the world’s largest network of institutions specializing in research on infectious diseases.

The Centre operates an international laboratory – the Samuel de Champlain laboratory – in partnership with the Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale (INSERM), dedicated to research on the pharmacology of peptides with neuroprotective properties. The first of its kind in North America, this lab joins a group of seven other international laboratories, located in Brussels, Prague, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Tokyo, Nankin and Dundee.
